FEZ - AL, originally from the UK, moved to NZ in 2001 with a career on drums, guitars and vocals spanning from the late 80's to today. Since moving to New Zealand Al took to the front of the stage on guitars and vocals with the band FEZ which has morphed from an acoustic duo up to a five piece band and then back to a 'grass roots' acoustic duo.
Simon has been performing since long ago, he has played in many groups over the years in various genres such as pop- rock, jazz, gypsy and classical. He performs regularly with the Nelson Symphony Orchestra on clarinet as well as the Nelson Jazz Quartet on sax and clarinet. Simon is the Musical Director of the Nelson Jazz Club Big Band and the Nelson Youth Jazz Collective. He has been playing with Al in FEZ over the last 10 years.
With Al on acoustic guitars, lead vocals and bass drum combined with the spectacularly unique talent of Simon Williams helping to lay down smooth and cool grooves on his sax’s, EWI, clarinet, flute and shaker, they create a unique, percussive style that has come to be their signature sound.
